Bayer Sweeps Spring Preview Beef Show

Calli Bayer, Ringle, swept the Wisconsin Livestock Breeders Association Spring Preview Beef Show June 7 and 8 at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds in Jefferson by showing the Supreme Champion Female and Grand Champion Steer.

Bayer’s Champion Owned Angus heifer and Champion Crossbred steer prevailed over the 100-plus exhibitors and 165 head of cattle to win the show.

Leading the Reserve Supreme Champion Female was Nicole Starr, Manawa, with her Champion Owned Hereford heifer. The Reserve Champion Steer was the Reserve Champion crossbred exhibited by Kelsi Retallick, Glen Haven.

Rounding out the champion breed heifers were: Reserve Champion Angus and Reserve Champion Bred and Owned n Courtney Jentz, Fennimore; Champion AOB (Red Angus) - Ty Bayer, Ringle; Reserve Champion AOB (Red Angus) - Calli Bayer, Ringle; Champion Shorthorn n Hope Schlimgen, Blue Mounds; Reserve Champion Shorthorn and Champion Bred and Owned Shorthorn - Lucas Huisheere, Janesville; Champion Simmental Heifer - Kimberly Beck, Plymouth; Reserve Simmental Heifer - Jared Beck, Plymouth; Champion Commercial Heifer - Eria Reierson, Rio; and Reserve Champion Commercial Heifer, Daniel Grupe, Cambria.

Champion breed steers include: Champion Angus - Jacqueline Walter, Hebron, Ill.; Reserve Angus - Mallory McConnell, Clinton; Champion Hereford - Zachary Huisheere, Janesville; Reserve Hereford - Brett Jones, Darlington; Champion Shorthorn n Ty Bayer, Ringle; Reserve Shorthorn n Hope Schimgen, Blue Mounds; and Champion AOB n Katie Jeske, Sheboygan Falls.
