DATCP Board Will Meet April 2

Members of the citizen board of the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection will meet on April 2 at the department headquarters, 2811 Agriculture Drive, Madison. The meeting will begin at 9 a.m.

After updates on board member activities, DATCP Secretary Rod Nilsestuen will give his report on his activities and present an update on DATCP initiatives.

From 10 until 10:30 a.m., members of the public may address the board on any topic. Each speaker will be limited to five minutes or less, depending on the number of speakers. Each speaker must fill out and submit an appearance card before speaking.

From 10:30 until 11:30 a.m. the board will discuss hearing drafts for permanent rules for ATCP 161 n the Buy Local grant program and for ATCP 123 n dealing with Electronic Communications Services - Sales and Billing Practices.

  

At 11:30 a.m., the board will be asked to approve a scope statement that will allow staff in the Trade and Consumer Protection Division to begin working on a permanent rule for ATCP 139 n Consumer Product Safety.

Just before the lunch break, DATCP’s Management Services Division will report on the agency’s current Geographic Information Systems (GIS) as well as an overview of statewide efforts related to GIS.
  

Beginning at 1 p.m., the board will hear reports involving:

- DATCP and Industry Emergency Preparedness n by DATCP staff and Matt Mathison, Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board;

- Working Lands Initiative n staff from the secretary’s office and the ag resource management division;

- Animal Health n by staff from animal health division;

- Invasive Pests n by staff from ag resource management division.

At 3:15 p.m. the board is expected to discuss its schedule and future agenda items. Adjournment is set for 3:30 p.m.
