Wisconsin Senate Confirms DNR Secretary

Thursday, March 20, 2008 4:02 PM CDT

The state Senate has confirmed Matt Frank’s appointment as state Department of Natural Resources secretary.

Democratic Gov. Jim Doyle named Frank to the post in July to replace Scott Hassett.

Hassett said he had grown tired of the job’s pace.

Frank served as Doyle’s corrections secretary before the governor moved him to the DNR.

The Senate voted 32-1 Thursday to confirm the appointment. The only dissenter was Sen. Joe Leibham, a Sheboygan Republican.

The confirmation was largely symbolic. Frank has been serving without it.
